A Golf Cart Parade for the Graduates

Graduation for the ISB Class of 2020’s looked a little different and with school closed and physical distancing measures in place, International School Bangkok (ISB) wanted to find a way for the community to still send them in style. 



An Innovative Parade

During lockdown in Thailand, Nichada Thani was a great place to be. The community has ample space and one was able to get outside, while also being able to maintain their distance from others. It’s also naturally a very safe and secure community, with limited through traffic, allowing for freedom of movement. This made it the ideal place for a Class of 2020 Golf Cart Parade!

This event would usually have been the ISB’s traditional senior class parade around the ISB campus with ISB students from the Elementary School, Middle School and High School leaving their classrooms to wish the graduating class all the very best. It’s become a meaningful tradition and one important for all involved. 

The idea of a golf cart parade was part of a larger series of graduation events and gave the opportunity for our students to still get their traditional send-off while also allowing the families within Nichada Thani to get involved in honoring the graduating class.

With two in a cart, with distance and wearing masks, the graduates set off from the ISB front gate, up into the Nichada community, around the Nichada lake and past various houses and compounds, where the community lined the streets! 

A Show of Celebration and Encouragement

As the senior class drove by, children and adults showed their enthusiasm for the Class of 2020 by cheering, clapping and displaying a multitude of posters, with words of encouragement for the graduating class. The parade provided the opportunity for everyone to maintain physical distancing and wore masks so that all of the participants would remain safe and sound. 

Combined with the Drive-In Graduation ceremony, the ISB community did an outstanding job to find unique ways to recognize the accomplishments and successes of the Class of 2020, during challenging times. Additionally, the Nichada Thani management provided valuable support in celebrating the ISB Class of 2020 with congratulatory banners placed around the Nichada community, with the Golf Cart parade and more.
