On December 20 and 21, ISB’s graduating Class of 2009 held a ten-year reunion on campus. Upwards of 45 ISB alumni came together to reminisce and celebrate the ten years since graduating from International School Bangkok (ISB). The reunion was made possible through the excellent organization of ’09 graduates Sarunporn (Ducky) Visutthithada and Jamorn Teo, with valuable assistance from Liliana Albert and Kaushi Koghar.
The first day’s festivities brought together all the participants on campus, where they enjoyed an assembly in the Chevron Theater, a community service activity in MPB 2, an extensive tour of the school, and shopping at the newly renovated ISB Booster Hut.
Highlights of the assembly included welcome remarks from Ducky and Jamorn, and a presentation by ISB Alumni Coordinator, Harold Albert. The former graduates were also treated to video presentations from a dozen alumni outside of Thailand, as well as a memorable speech by ISB’s new Director of Partnerships, Mr. Rob Tyler.
The community service activity let our former graduates pick up right where they left off, by doing their part to help those in need. Returning members of the class of ’09 set to work assembling clean birthing kits – an ISB alumni activity created by Patty DeMartini Williams (Class of ’84). Clean birthing kits are an arrangement of simple supplies that can assure a clean and sanitary birthing environment when giving birth in a hospital is not possible. The 50 kits put together by the ’09 alums will be donated to the Thai Ministry of Health to be used in Thailand.
A tour of the campus highlighted several new features of ISB, starting with the bronze panther in front of the zigzag walkway. Participants then explored the Sports Complex, with its 50-meter swimming pool, 5 additional tennis courts, an air-conditioned gymnasium, and an amazing gymnastics facility. The Cultural Center building came next, followed by a look at several other upgraded school facilities. The new Booster Hut proved to be a real hit, as the ‘09 graduates were able to stock up on ISB memorabilia.
The following evening had a more casual theme, with dinner in the city center accompanied by lively conversations and tall tales of life after high school. This ten-year reunion allowed our 2009 graduates to reconnect with each other and with ISB. Attendees also appreciated the chance to spend time networking with classmates they had not seen since their teenage years.
Many thanks to all the Class of 2009 Panthers who attended this fantastic event. Class of 2010 – you are next! We look forward to having you back on campus later this year!
