    The Story of Pancho

For nearly 60 years denizens of Sukhumvit Soi 15 have enjoyed food lovingly prepared by Khun Prapan Prapatkul and his wife, Khun Pranee.  The gentleman in question is, of course, better known by his nickname, “Pancho.” This Thai couple has been preparing made-to-order food primarily for the staff and students at the school located at the end of the soi. For over 30 years the school at this site was International School Bangkok (ISB), before our move in 1992 to our current campus in Nichada Thani, and Pancho and Pranee are fondly remembered by all our students and staff that moved through our Soi 15 campus over all those years.

    ISB Alumni Give back

ISB and our Alumni community were extremely sad to learn that due to failing health and eyesight, Pancho’s has had to go into retirement. Even though ISB has been away from Soi Ruam Chai (15) for over 27 years, Pancho and Pranee are fondly remembered by ISB students and staff from ‘back in the day’ and many had been back to visit from their various locations around the world. With this in mind, the ISB Alumni Community started a fundraising campaign to try and make the retirement of Pancho and Pranee a bit more comfortable.

At the time of writing this article we are proud to report that over $900US has been collected for the Pancho Fund. The fundraising is still going and we hope that this contribution will offer them support in their retirement and how our thanks and care as a community, for the service and kindness they have showed to us over the years.

If you have not as yet done so but would still like to donate to the “Pancho Retirement Fund,” please follow the link provided below:

Thank you to our various alumni around the world that made a contribution and for staying connected to IS, to our extended community, as well as to Thailand.
