ISB Alumni: Celebrating a Proud Legacy

In its nearly 70 years of distinguished educational service, ISB has prepared entire generations of Bangkok’s best and brightest for success throughout their lives and careers. Our school’s wide range of academic and extracurricular pursuits allows students to develop their own passions and interests, reaching their potential in any field they choose.

Yet there is much more to the story. During their time at ISB, many of our students develop deep friendships that stand the test of time. As a way of preserving valuable personal connections over great distances of time and space (please see our ISB Alumni page for more information and staying connected) are an excellent resource open to all of our former students.

Maintaining these connections is a vital part of our mission as a school, as it ties in directly with two of our core ideas. Our school Vision focuses on enriching communities, while our Mission has at its heart the goal of developing our students to become caring global citizens. By re-connecting our former students with one another around the world, ISB Alumni services play an integral role in fulfilling these objectives.

Today’s ISB students also benefit from having others to look up to, and it is therefore worth celebrating the achievements of our school’s alumni. School pride, felt by Panthers past and present, gets a significant boost when someone in the ISB community reaches a career milestone. Moreover, there is indeed much to celebrate among the successes of our beloved former students. One such student has gone from strength to strength in the world of golf, impressing all around her with her talent and dedication.

    A Winning Spirit

ISB Alumni and all of us throughout the International School Bangkok community would like to congratulate ISB graduate Patty Treevichapan for her accomplishments as a member of the New York University (NYU) women’s golf team.

Patty, an ISB graduate in 2015, was a four-year varsity golfer at ISB as well as a 3-time IASAS Golf All- Tournament athlete. In her 3 varsity seasons at ISB, her teams won gold, silver and bronze medals. Patty was the team captain in both her junior and senior years.

Following her years on the ISB golf team, Patty continued to compete at a high level among her peers. She spent four seasons on the golf team at NYU, winning the prestigious NYU Women’s Golf Junior Scholar Athlete of the Year Award as a junior in 2018.

In May 2019, the NYU women’s golf team reached the pinnacle of success by capturing the Division III NCAA Championship. As captain, Patty led her team’s come-from-behind charge on the final day of the competition, allowing them to leapfrog their nearest competitors and take the title. When she and a teammate birdied the 16th hole, it put the NYU team ahead to stay.

NYU coach Brad Johnson reflected on the victory, attributing it to a committed team effort from all involved. “We didn’t have any All-Americans this year, not even any Honorable Mention. But what we did have was a real team that put forth great effort and dedication all season long,” he said.

    How Mindset Leads to Success

It is often said that golf is the most mentally challenging of all the world’s major sports. Success comes largely through adaptability, commitment, and balance. These qualities – also to be found among ISB’s own values and attributes – allow players to deal with each new difficulty that arises, finding and following the right path forward.

Many other activities and careers depend on similar skills, yet few demand such precise and delicate application as competitive golf. Patty’s remarkable achievements in the sport, demonstrated year after year, reveal a rare talent that has been carefully cultivated and refined over time. We at ISB are thrilled to report on her consistent success, and honored to have played a part in her development as a player and as a person.

It is with great Panther pride that we salute the efforts of Patty Treevichapan. Thank you for being a great representative of ISB. As we always say, Once a Panther, Always a Panther!
