Taking root with sustainability at ISB and the EWC

Last school year International School Bangkok formally launched our EAB (Environmental Advisory Board) to help develop and realize the vision of making ISB a leading sustainable educational organization. The EAB works closely with students, parents, faculty, staff, and various environmental clubs and committees on campus. As a school and community, we are actively looking at ways to ensure we are becoming more and more green, environmentally aware, and teaching our students to lead the way in suitability.

This year we celebrate 70 years of exceptional international education in South East Asia. To celebrate, our Green Panthers High School Club, started a tree planting initiative in celebration of this special anniversary. To achieve these goals we are asking the ISB community to help plant 70 trees on campus and a further ten trees at the EWC in celebration of our school's long rich history. But the seeds won't stop here. We have collaborated with One Tree Planted to plant even more trees around Thailand.

The large trees are destined for the beautiful surroundings of the Environmental Wilderness Campus (EWC) and are vital to the ongoing important conservation work there. ISB is the only school in Thailand to own an outdoor educational facility, providing adventure, scientific, and sustainability education. You can find out more about our EWC here.

The new trees will be a great extension of our commitment to the community and environment. EWC Director, Elliott Bowyer says: "The mission of the EWC is to bring students into the outdoors and pose challenges in a real-world setting. The development of environmentally sustainable systems ensures that we are a lighthouse project for educating not only our community but also the communities that we impact in this area.

As the guardians of this land, it is our responsibility to maintain and enhance the environment. To this end, our established wetlands and protected forest areas continue to attract wildlife back to this area, creating and re-establishing ecosystems that flourish.

As we lose established trees, we lose a critical part of the ecosystem. Coupled with our scheduled planting of young sapling trees, the planting of mature trees back into this environment will ensure that diversity remains within the ecosystem, and this area flourishes under our guardianship."

Join us and plant a tree at ISB and the EWC

Living creatures all around the world depend on trees to survive. However, trees are being cut down, and forests are getting smaller, which affects animals' habitats and our livelihoods. Join us by purchasing a tree of your choice with us, and contribute to a larger cause as well.

ANYONE can sponsor a tree at ISB - but there are limited trees available! Don't miss this amazing opportunity to have your name forever inscribed on ISB grounds!
The Tree Sponsorship Form is here.

All sponsors will be recognized with a plaque beside their tree and a permanent Dedication Board on campus.
