Communicating in your Native Language at ISB - Free Resources from our School Library

International School Bangkok’s (ISB) Main Library and Elementary School Hub support our mission of inspiring community members to achieve their full potential, a commitment that extends from our students to our faculty to our alumni to our parents.

The school libraries provide free resources in hopes of helping individuals become passionate, reflective learners, caring global citizens by facilitating the effective, creative and ethical use of information and the pursuit and appreciation of a wide variety of literature. In addition, patrons can access titles in a variety of formats: print, eBooks and Audiobooks.

Japanese Resources Available at our School Library for Parents

Our school libraries aren’t just for students. The Main Library has a number of titles in Japanese and we are constantly adding to this collection. Our English Manga collection of over 500 titles are extremely popular with all students, especially those who love Graphic Novels.

We have paid subscriptions to over thirteen highly acclaimed databases such as EBSCO, which provide access to scholarly journal articles, magazines and newspapers.  We are constantly reviewing both our print and non print collection to ensure we are providing the best resources possible to all our patrons, including parents.

Our Elementary collection features updated Japanese titles that are enjoyed by both adults and children. Popular manga titles are available in our graphic novel collection and we strive to provide books translated from foreign languages into English.

To check out these resources at either the Elementary or Middle/High School library, parents simply have to use their ISB ID card.

The school libraries are well stocked and source new books each year. If you can’t seem to find what you’re looking for, the librarians will work with you to get more of the resources you need.

For additional support for Japanese families interested in applying to ISB, we've created a helpful glossary of terms so you can feel confident in your decision to choose ISB.

Our school libraries foster atmospheres of mutual respect, encourage both you and your children to be self-sufficient and create an environment that is warm, friendly and caring. You’ll experience these same characteristics beyond the library doors, through the ISB hallways, into each classroom.

A library stocked with Japanese literature, music, and movies is just one of the multitude of ways that ISB directly supports Japanese families interested in transferring to ISB. Learn more about all the other ways ISB guides Japanese families through the admissions process here.
